Unique family home in the heart of Snowdonia

From £30 per person per night

The spectacular nineteenth century church of St. Curig’s in the mountaineering hamlet of Capel Curig has recently been lovingly transformed into a luxury Bed and Breakfast residence so unique that the conversion has been followed in the Home section of the Sunday Times.

The interior is breath-taking with two double en suite rooms boasting hand-carved four poster beds and two additional en suite guest rooms which can accommodate either single or double occupancy. Original stained glass windows and a towering ceiling make the resident’s lounge truly special. A continental breakfast awaits you in the morning (full breakfast at a supplement) in the former apse lavishly decorated with a mosaic ceiling commissioned by William Edward Sackville-West, estate manager to Lord Penrhyn to commemorate the death of his wife. It was made by the Salviati Company in 1893 and other examples of their work grace the Houses of Parliament and St. Paul’s Cathedral. With incredible views of the Glyders mountain range you may be inclined to pull on your hiking boots but the whirlpool hot tub in the garden could persuade you to simply put your feet up, gaze at the scenery and relax. Children are welcome and there is a play area and ample parking. If you can tear yourself away there are three pubs nearby, the Plas-y-Brenin national mountaineering centre and the bustling village of Betws-y-Coed is just five miles away. Your host, Lady Alice Douglas, strives to ensure that St.Curig’s offers high quality accommodation of character and charm with personal and friendly service.
