Each cottage sleeps 5 Plas-y-Wern is an old Welsh stone farmhouse and three cottages, which have been converted from the original stone and slate farm buildings. These are set in a private courtyard and seven acres of grounds, on a coastal hillside overlooking the Marine Heritage Coast of Cardigan Bay in West Wales. The emphasis here is on a peaceful country holiday. You can enjoy the lovely panoramic country and sea views all year round. In summer you can sit out in your garden and watch the sun set over the bay. We welcome tourers, motorcaravans and campers and are listed as a certificated site in The Camping and Caravanning Club. Short breaks are available – please ask for details. The Hayloft is situated in the middle of the courtyard. It has a vaulted ceiling with exposed wooden beams and A-frames. The open plan lounge has a comfortable settee and two Victorian armchairs, a colour TV with ‘freeview’, VCR and radio/cassette/ CD. The kitchen/ dining area is in pine, including a dresser. There is a fridge, gas cooker and microwave for cooking, or if you prefer, there are good takeaways, restaurants and pub food nearby. There is a ground floor double bedroom and a gallery bedroom with twin beds, which has limited headroom. The bathroom has a bath with electric shower over. From the lounge is a lovely view over the enclosed garden of the cottage with the hills and sea beyond. The garden has a patio with table and chairs and a barbecue. The Granary is situated in one corner of the courtyard and is where the grain was originally stored. It has a lounge with high-beamed ceiling and a gallery leading to the double bedroom on the first floor. Under the gallery is the dining area and kitchen with fridge, gas cooker and microwave. The bathroom is on the ground floor and has an electric shower over the bath. The bed settee in the lounge can be used for additional people. Access to the enclosed garden is through the lounge French doors onto a raised patio with lovely views over the countryside and the bay. A garden table and chairs and a barbecue are in the garden overlooking the pond. Plas-y-Wern is situated 8 miles north of Cardigan, half a mile off the West Wales coast road to Aberystwyth. The blue flag beaches of Tresaith and Aberporth are within 3 miles and nearby are the three National Trust beaches of Penbryn, Mwnt and Cwmtudu. Most of these beaches are sheltered, sandy coves and many are connected by spectacular cliff top walks. Cardigan Bay was the UK’s first Marine Heritage Coast sheltering some of the rarest birds and marine life and is home to bottlenose dolphins, porpoises and grey seals. These are regularly spotted from the shore and boat trips are available from New Quay and Aberaeron to see them close up. Plas-y-Wern is centrally situated for touring and walking. The Pembrokeshire Coast Path and Preseli hills are situated to the south, with the mountains of Snowdonia National Park to the North. The Brecon Beacons and the Cambrian Mountains are to the East, and if you want to go West, why not have a day trip to Ireland and see Dublin?! Directions From M4 At the end of the motorway, carry on the A48 to Carmarthen. At the roundabout take the last exit and follow the red sign to the Hospital A&E. Go past the hospital and turn right at the next roundabout (A484 to Cardigan). At Newcastle Emlyn turn right to the town centre, go through the town, over the bridge and turn left onto the B4333 to Aberporth and MOD. Keep going for about 6 miles until the crossroads with the A487. Turn right onto the Aberystwyth road and after one mile turn left (at red TCD sign) for Tresaith/Penbryn. Then left at the first cottage and follow the signs to Plas-y-Wern B&B. From Aberystwyth About 30 miles south on the A487 (to Cardigan), go through Sarnau village. Approximately one mile after the end of the 40mph zone take the second right to Tresaith (also red TCD sign). Then left at the first cottage and follow the signs to Plas-y-Wern B&B. | ||
