It was purchased by the Hegarty family without any aim for what would happen to the building. It was decided to open a Guesthouse. Tourist board grading was done differently then and it went from A to C and only a Grade A would do it was decided. The whole Hegarty family helped to work on the house to transform it into what it is today. At one stage you could stand in the foundations of the house and if you looked up you would have seen the ceiling on the 3rd floor. In Easter 1991 the guesthouse had its first guest and word of mouth spread. We decided not to put a sign on the outside of the guesthouse so to give the guests as much peace & quiet as possible. It also gives us extra security. The American Ambassador to Ireland, Jean Kennedy Smith liked the idea when she came to stay. Marketing was done in Guidebooks only and now with the Internet we are benefiting from our new website. We decided not to take a booking without credit card information, something we still practice to this day. While the guesthouse only had 5 rooms it was decided that we needed more. An extra 2 rooms were added to give us more flexibility, and give more choice to guests. Many of our regulars ask to stay in a room with a view. The success of Seven North Mall comes down to standards. We feel that our guests expect the best so we provide it. Its as simple as that. | ||
