The land on which the cottage is built was the first piece of land sold for money in the district. The price was, you've guessed it, fourpence. When we bought Fourpenny in 1980 it was not more than a derelict shell. You can play golf on some of the finest courses in the world. The chance of a round on the Royal Dornoch where the game has been played since 1616 is something most golfers find irresistible. As well as the Royal Dornoch, there are links at Golspie, Brora, Tain and Helmsdale. A package suitable to yourself can be arranged by telephoning; Sheila Board on 01862 810727. You can enjoy watching the abundance of wildlife in the district, of particular interest is Dornoch Firth and the Scottish Wild Life National Nature Reserve at Loch Fleet. You can find some of the finest brown trout fishing available anywhere in the North of Scotland. Also nearby is the Fairytale Castle of Dunrobin, and the Timespan Heritage Centre at Helmsdale. | ||
