Casa Palmeira - (Self Catering) Casa Palmeira Eastern Algarve Portugal A detached fully modernised cottage, situated in a quiet lane in the village of Luz de Tavira, 2 km from the historic town of Tavira. The self-catered cottage overlooks orange groves and from the roof terrace you can see the sea to the south and the mountains to the north. Unspoilt beautiful golden beaches with summer water sports are 2 km away. Faro airport is 30 minutes away as is the Spanish border; Seville is one and a half hours away. The property consists of: Large kitchen/diner/sitting room – usual appliances including fridge freezer, washing machine, electric cooker with electric and gas hob. Lounge with log burning stove. Bathroom with shower and bidet 1 double bedroom with large wardrobe and drawers. 1 bedroom with 2 single beds with large wardrobe and drawers. There is also a full size fold up bed. Outside, there is a breakfast patio downstairs and a large roof terrace upstairs with barbecue and patio furniture - al fresco dining under the stars is a must. There is gated parking. There are 4 good golf course nearby where you can play leisurely without queues. There are also 2 more courses nearby in Spain. We have played them all and they are all different and interesting with excellent views. Horse riding is available locally at a riding cantinha. There are many beautiful walks in the area including hill walking. There is also nearby a waterfall with a natural azure blue plunge pool – ideal for a picnic and swim. The Ria Formosa is nearby which is world renowned for bird watching and walking. Both Luz de Tavira and Tavira have many local Fiestas throughout the summer where you can taste the local wine and beer and dance the night away – a good way to join in and meet people. Five minutes from our house is a good local family run restaurant which is popular with both locals and visitors. Excellent seafood and meat dishes are served in down to earth surroundings with prices to match. Tavira This is a picturesque and cultural town with a Roman bridge over the River Gilao. There are many cafes and restaurants where you can eat very reasonably. There is a cinema in Tavira showing up to date English speaking films, there is also a Multiplex in Faro. The nearest beach is Barril beach reached by a short walk across the Ria Formosa – alternatively you can use the ‘Thomas the Tank train’ – a typical Portuguese experience. There are also the beaches at Ilha de Tavira which can be reached by a short ferry hop. All the local beaches are beautiful and unspoilt and south facing towards Africa, with the warmest waters in Portugal. There are local bars and restaurants and with 18 kms of golden sand there is always plenty of space. The property is 200 yards from the local bus route to Tavira or Faro and there is a good train service from the village along the whole of the Algarve coastline. If you want a relaxing, peaceful holiday with good accommodation, in a great location then you have found your perfect holiday. Because of the roof garden and steps the property would not be suitable for children under 8 years old. 2006 Prices per week for renting the property in UK Pound Sterling - minimum rental period of two weeks. Prices per week include: linen, bath towels, electricity, gas and cleaning on departure. 2 people 4 people A 25% deposit is require when booking the property with the balance to be paid eight weeks before departure. A deposit of £125 is required as a breakage deposit - this is refundable at the end of your stay. Some visitors' comments in 2005: ‘Let me say what a wonderful property you have.
