Lleyn is approximately 35 miles long by 10 miles at its widest. The hills are rich in prehistoric remains with holy wells and a pilgrimage route to Bardsey Island. Even today no main road penetrates to the tip of the peninsula. Guarded by Caernarfon Castle in the North and Harlech in the South. The area is now designated as one of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Between both coastlines, the mountains offering walking opportunities and magnificent views as they plunge down to the sea, allowing coastal villages to nestle in the coves. On a clear day look across Caernarfon Bay to Anglesey or Ireland and to the south Cardigan Bay. This area retains the Welshness of Wales, the language being used during daily transactions by young and old alike. Well served by many excellent pubs and restaurants with a good standard of fare. Lleyn can cater for a full range of tastes and still provide value for money be you a walker, water-skier, yachtsman, pony trekker, golfer, scuba diver or just someone who wants to lie on the beach. | ||
