It was commissioned by King Charles II in 1668 and named after Sir Thomas Danby who served as the Lord High Treasurer for King Charles II. Danby Lodge sits in two acres of secluded woodland gardens, nestled in the heart of the forest with magnificent views across the Dean Forest and the Severn Vale. There are a wealth of original features including huge oak beams in all rooms, flagstone floors, an inglenook fireplace and a very deep wishing well. The Lodge also benefits from modern additions, including the outdoor heated swimming pool, which is available to our guests during the summer months. The rooms are wonderfully cosy, all with en- suite bathrooms and the other facilities you would expect, which help create a home from home. Danby Lodge is perfectly situated for exploring the beautiful Royal Forest of Dean, the Wye Valley, (a renowned area of outstanding natural beauty), the Welsh hills and valleys and the picturesque Cotswolds. We are within easy access of the major roads and other travel networks and approximately one hour from Bristol and Birmingham Airports. Danby Lodge is a romantic and charming old forest house in a wonderful location.
