Traditional thatched cottages were a natural feature of the Irish countryside up until the mid 20th century. These houses were built using local field stones and topped with a thatch of straw, rushes or reeds. The cottages at Cnoc Suain, with links dating back to the battle of Aughrim (1691) and the famine (1845) have been authentically restored, retaining open fires and exuding a sense of snug, comfort and ease. While retaining a sense of timelessness, we do provide modern conveniences (discreetly) for the comfort of our guests. | ||
