Sylvia and Bernard Thain welcome you to 'The Barn' and wish you an enjoyable stay in North Yorkshire.

The Barn, a pantile and brick building, is approximately 110 years old. It previously served the small-holding attached to the Old Post Office when it was a working business, and we believe that the barn housed cattle and stores.

It has recently been converted to provide delightful rural compact self-catering accommodation, and comprises one twin and one small double bedroom; both with en-suite shower and W.C. There is a sitting room with a colour T.V., and a kitchen diner with washing machine, dishwasher, etc. All bed linen is provided: duvet covers, pillow cases and sheets, but guests are reminded that they must supply their own towels and tea-towels. There are plenty of very good places to ‘eat out’ in the surrounding area.

Baldersby is a small village on the A61, exactly half-way between the market town of Thirsk with its cobbled square and twice weekly market and the city of Ripon with its magnificent cathedral. Ripon, incidentally, is the smallest city in Yorkshire. Baldersby is the ideal centre for exploring the Yorkshire Dales and Moors; the lovely city of York and the spa town of Harrogate with its beautiful gardens and fashionable shops. Sylvia is an ITEC qualified aromatherapist and reflexologist who can offer relaxing treatments to really help you unwind.

For anglers, both coarse and game, Bernard is able to provide you with a wealth of local information directly from water owners. Scarborough, Whitby, Filey and the quaint fishing villages and bays on the East coast are not too far away, and there are a number of Stately Homes and National Trust properties in the area which are open to the public.
