Cute holiday cottage on Waiheke Island. Sleeps 4-6 plus sofa bed. Close to beach, cafes, shop, buses

679/ 814 US per week for 4 persons/Sleeps 4-6

The cottage 50+ square metres is an original 1920s Waiheke Bach, just 35 minutes from Auckland by ferry. Fully renovated in 2003, and retaining much of its character, it has a new kitchen and bathroom, polished wooden floors, cosy living areas, and a spacious new deck. The cottage has a double, a twin, and a bunk bedroom, and a sofa bed in the lounge. The kitchen is fully equipped with fridge-freezer, a full oven, microwave etc. The living area has a TV, DVD player, portable stereo, books, games, information folder and phone connected for local calls. A cot and high chair are available on request The Area Behind the house is a huge deck, and good sized lawned garden from the bottom of which a track leads to the local beach. Secluded Hook's Bay is only a short stroll away. Despite being a beautiful white-shelled beach, with clear water and safe swimming, this is truly a locals' beach, and is never crowded, even at the height of the season. Waiheke Island is a village at the seaside. A bus stop is nearby, and Surfdale shops are 300 metres down the road. Here you will find a licensed dairy, an Italian Restaurant, an Irish Bar, and two takeaways. The cottage is situated 300m to the beach. Leisure Waiheke has too many beaches to mention them all. The popular north facing, white sandy beaches include Palm Beach, Oneroa, Little Oneroa, and Onetangi. However, there are plenty of off-the-beaten-track coves to be discovered, even some that can only be reached by boat or kayak. Outdoor activities include sailing, kayaking, swimming, fishing, windsurfing, and golf. Waiheke is famous for its 30 or more vineyards, and plenty of bars, cafes and restaurants. There are also plenty of shops, markets, and art galleries to keep you busy. Annual events include the Jazz and Wine Festivals. Bedrooms: 1 double bedroom, 2 twin bedrooms.
