Cotterill Farm Cottages - (Self Catering) Cotterill Farm, Biggin-by-Hartington near Buxton Derbyshire England SK17 0DJ Telephone 01298 84447 5 award winning Stone Cottages in glorious location in the heart of the White Peak 2 person cottage between £230 and £400; 3 person £250 to £440, 4 person cottages between £220 and £4 Award winning Peak District stone cottages, just upgraded within last year with new kitchens including halogen cookers, solid oak units, gloss work-tops and real stone granite sinks, despite consistent and easily achieved grading 4 Star by the English Tourist Board,(and under the old grading system 'Highly Commended'). Wonderful countryside location with views, (see ariel view above showng our cottages adjacent to our larger neighbour , Biggin Grange) yet only a few hundred yards to the nearby village of Biggin-by-Hartington and its pub. (The popular village of Hartington with its tea-shops, pubs gift shops and post-office are one mile away in the opposite direction) There are two wild flower meadows on our land, which is adjacent to a nature reserve leading after one mile to the River Dove at Wofscote Dale. Upstream is Beresford Dale and just over one mile down-stream is Dovedale. Numerous footpaths and bridleways surround our property. The highly popular Tissington Trail, which runs for 17 miles, and is used by walkers, cyclists and horse riders, is less than one mile away and two further trails, the High Peak Trail and the Manifold Valley Trail (both of a similar distance) are within 3 miles. These former railway lines have much else to offer, not least quality views. Each cottage has 7 information folders, giving personalised information as well as the usual commercial literature on attractions of area, things to do, pubs etc. written by the owners who are lovers and keen explorers of the area. Probably the best in the business! The two person cottage has exposed stone, beams, and a galleried bedroom, overlooking a log burner which is a focal point on a stone plinth in the middle of the very large living room. (and five piece suite in equally spacious bathroom). The four person cottages have lovely original beams running along the first floor (see the picture on our own web site or on the photo album, a subsidiary page of this one) and one of the cottages is an 'up-side down' one with the living room/open plan kitchen on the first floor to take advantage of the views (again picture of this on a subsidiary page) One of the other four person cottages, that standing in its own grounds with own parking surrounded by a dry stone wall located at the end of our drive, just off a quiet private lane, has two shower rooms. We have also just completed a two bedroomed cottage, sleeping up to 3, all on the ground floor, and therefore particularly suited for the less agile.The cottages have just been awarded 'Cottages of the Year' by the Highly Commended Group of Cottages. Quite apart from the immediate locality offering views of rolling countryside, dales etc, we are also superbly situated being in the heart of that part of the Peak District known as the 'White Peak'. (This is the area of rolling countryside, dales streams and rivers, limestone villages and dry-stone walls, which give the area so much charachter. -The Dark Peak is mainly moorland). Our central position within the White Peak is confirmed by its equal distance, namely 11 miles, from Buxton, Matlock, Bakewell, Ashbourne and Leeks, all towns on the perimeter of the White Peak at different points on the compass from us. Alton Towers is just under 30 minutes away. The Potteries is within easy reach.
